Inclusive Early Childhood Education

The space for hope

CRCC’S new Sensory Adapted Classroom (SAC) is designed to help children 5 to 12 years of age who experience sensory processing disorders (SPD) and struggle with under- or over-stimulation and self-regulation. CRCC’s specially trained occupational therapists use the room to implement custom-designed SPD treatment plans that increase a child’s ability to learn, develop pro-social behaviors, maintain healthy relationships and have fun.

The Sensory Adapted Classroom is a one-of-a-kind space where:

• therapists evaluate the sensory profiles and needs of each child

• group therapy, individual therapy and social skills groups are offered

• sensory tools are used to minimize distractions and increase concentration

  and participation

• child-friendly terminology from the evidence-based Alert Program® is used

to help children learn to respond to environmental inputs and expand their

   self-regulation strategies

• parents are encouraged to actively participate in services and treatment
